"Nebuli SE"

Well here we go again.....
I've started the second, and final run of the Nebuli knives.
Machining is complete on the frames.
I'm waiting for my CPM S30V to arrive, so I can get going on the blades.
These I've designated "SE's" as in Second Edition, yeah I know way to think outside the box eh?
There are a few minor changes from the originals, most notably I'll be using flat head screws in place of the button heads this round.
Look close in the picture, and you'll see a half dozen "Lefty" frames in there for my South Paw brethren.
There is NO LIST, I'll be posting a few for sale at a time on a first come first served basis as I complete them.
Some will be plain, some will be anodized, and some will be extra fancy. I'm not sure what extra fancy will entail, but they'll be cool;)
I'll keep you all posted on their progress,
Kenn

Hey all,
I have for your consideration the 1st. wave of "Pea Whistles".

The finish is just plain right out of the CNC. I kinda like the machine lines on them myself.
USA price is $45.00.
Also, I have so many folks looking forward to these that I'm going to put a 2 per person limit on them.

These have been a long time coming, and I thank you all for being patient with me.

EDIT: I was able to obtain a sound meter, and these come in at 106.6dB

"I could use a nap"

How's this for production?
Yup there's 120 Whistles setting there, go ahead count them.
Late Wednesday the Boss said it would be a few more days until I got the next job for the one of Machining Centers from the Lathe guys.
I jumped at the opportunity, and asked if I could run my Whistles since it was open.
The downside, was I had to redo all my programs since I had written them for the other CNC. That was a late evening.
So, these bodies are all machined.
I still need to make the caps, deburr everything, tie lanyards, and bag & tag.
While they aren't quite ready this is much better than mid November I was planning on.
By the way I believe my Wife thinks I have moved to the shop.

"See A Whistle Machined"

Hey folks,
Just thought you'd like to see one of the shops CNC Machining Centers in action.
Here I am milling my "Pea Whistles".
The coolant is turned off, and the cycle was previously run.
The video is more to show off the machine than seeing chips fly.
Yeah, I'm only running one pallet.
I got word late yesterday afternoon that my next job in this Machining Center would be held up until Monday.
So I took the opportunity, and asked if I could use it today through the weekend to get started on the Whistles.
This is just the first two operations of the six needed to make a complete Whistle.
Enjoy,

"Success....Finally"

Hello,
Sorry for the long lag time between posts, but I've been stacking cord wood all week after work.
I'm a bit wiped out.
Anyway, now for the good news.
I have succeeded in getting the "Pea Whistles to work".
I'll post some pictures of the working model this evening.
Kenn

EDIT: Here are the pictures as promised.
I'm very pleased to have found a solution to the venturi that not only works great, but is aesthetic to the design.

Please be patient, as I hope to have the revamped prototype Pea Whistle ready to show off in a week or two.
Also, I'd like to welcome the new followers that have signed on to the Blog. Howdy kids;)

"Micro Bit Twists"

Do you ever need a screwdriver for a quick adjustment, but are away from the tool box or the kitchen junk drawer?
Well here we have the "Micro Bit Twist", made of 316 Stainless Steel this tool is .375 thick X .625 wide over the .312 radii X .625 high not including the bit. The bit holder is a 1/4 hex machined .400 deep. In one side is a SS #8-32 socket set screw to hold the bit in place, I include a 5/64 short arm Allen wrench for this.
While the tool comes with a #2 Phillips bit you can replace it with any 1/4 hex bit that is to your liking.
For this run I opted to go with a small ss split ring instead of the para cord lanyard.
USA folks your price is $30.00. Sold
Please Email jordanmetalart@gmail.com to place an order.
Thanks for looking,

Well since these flew out the door the 1st. time, I decided to run a few more.

They press onto the end of the regular size Bic lighters.
The screwdriver bit has been carbidized for a little extra wear resistance.
Using the fulcrum method these make a nice bottle opener while protecting the lighter from chipping.
Each one comes with the SS split ring as in the photo, and a brand new Bic.

Here's what's available:
Plain Bead Blast. !!Sold!!
Blue. !!Sold!!
Kinda Greenish, it's on the green lighter in the pic. !!Sold!!

"V2 Ti Drive"

Well hello again,
This evening I have a few "Version 2 Ti Drives" available.
The last time I made my original "Ti Drives" I wasn't immediately able to get the 16GB Micro Cruzers I usually use.
I purchased 4 of the regular ones in the hopes that they would be the same inside after breaking them out of their plastic housings.....not even close.
I did find the Micro Cruzers to complete the  original drives, but had the 4 others left over.
So a little designing, and here is what I came up with.
Simpler than the originals in that they are fixed instead of the USB being able to retract, hence the lower pricing.
I decided to leave the machining marks on these just for a change of pace.
For what it's worth I will not be making this version again, and there are 5 in total.

Here's what I have available:
0 Plain. !!Sold!!
0 Blue anodized. !!Sold!!
0 Spectrum anodized. !!Sold!!
USA your price is $115.00.
Please send an Email to jordanmetalart@gmail.com  if you're interested.
Thanks folks,

These are made from Grade 2 commercially pure Titanium with a bead blast finish.
They press onto the end of the regular size Bic lighters.
The screwdriver bit has been carbidized for a little extra wear resistance.
Using the fulcrum method these make a nice bottle opener while protecting the lighter from chipping.
Each one comes with the SS split ring as in the photo, and a brand new Bic in my choice of color
USA folks, your price is $60.00.
Alas I posted these on a forum last night with the intention of listing them here as well.
Well, I lost my satellite Internet before that could happen, my apologies folks:(

It has 4 viewing slots featuring 17 holes each.

The vial is held in via a 1/4-20 ss set screw.
I drilled through the set screw for yet another viewing option.
At the top of the lantern is a copper inlay for added niftyness.
This piece has a nice satin finish.

"Bic Buddy Rev #1"

Well folks,
I was at the shop the entire day Saturday, and was only able to produce one piece.
I'm not to happy about it, but you'll have those days.
Any way as you can see the new ones now have a screwdriver tip on one side.
I added a nice "ear" for the split ring, and decided to do away with the lock bar feature.
So I think I'll try again tomorrow to get a few more machined up.
Thanks for looking,
Kenn

"I Don't Do Custom Work, But"

How could I say no when requested to make a custom Titanium engagement ring box?
Honestly, I was honored to be asked.
The machining is all done, other than a slot for a Self Lighting Gas Vial.
After that, it's on to the final polishing.
Enjoy the photos,
Kenn

Wow,
It's May already I suppose I should break out the lawn tractor, and other seasonal implements.
Anyway I've run another batch of "Ti Lights" that are all set to go.

"Field Hone"

Well I have had this idea for  a while now, and had some time to make a couple of prototypes.
The handle is .375 diameter 6AL4V Titanium, while the business end is .250 diameter micro grain carbide.
I have been saving my broken carbide end mills for some time now figuring I'd could come up with some use for them, so that's where the micro grain carbide was sourced.
I surface ground a flat onto the carbide, and then with my carbidizer added a layer to the flat to give the surface some texture.
Okay, while can't re profile your blade with it.
If you're out camping, and dull up your Jared Ryan Price friction folder slicing Lemons to garnish Margaritas on a hunk of firewood for all your friends you can resharpen it with this little hone.
Hope you like em,

"A Few In Process Items"

Hey kids,
Check em out, I have a few in process items I thought you all might like to take a gander at.
1st. up are a couple of new Lanterns I've been working on.
These are made from 1" diameter Lucite, and encapsulate a Green 18mm sphere.
I still need to add a lanyard/split ring feature, and then polish em up.
They were done completely in the mill, no lathe.
The radius on the cap really magnifies the sphere.
I doubt they will become a regular item as the spheres are quite costly themselves.
A neat project none the less.

Next we have a few Ti Drives in process.
Still need to do the final fitting, polishing, anodize, and install the Self Lighting Gas Vials.
The good news is as soon as these are complete, I'll be going hog wild on the Pea Whistles.
There will be a large run of them, so there should be plenty to go around.
Enjoy the weekend, Kenn
